Correspondence and related documents concerning publications issued by the Whitney Museum including A HISTORY OF AMERICAN GRAPHIC HUMOR by William Murrell and a series on American artists, 1931-1938. General correspondence, 1950-1960. In addition, files pertaining to the development and production of exhibition catalogs, 1969-1979; and to non-exhibition books such as a catalog of the collection. Postcards and copy prints as well as printing samples are included in series, 1950-1976. Also, general files containing correspondence, information files, administrative records concerning reproductions, publications, shipping, and sales, and records regarding Museum Store Association. Whitney Museum publications include catalogs of one-man and group exhibitions, 1932-1983; THE WHITNEY REVIEW and BULLETIN containing a review of each year's events, 1960-1984; and NEW AMERICAN FILMMAKERS SERIES consisting of press releases and descriptions of a weekly film program of independent and experimental filmmakers, 1970-1982. Also, catalogs of exhibitions held at the Whitney Museum's branch museums, 1973-1983.
